Listening to a sequence while recording new one

Is there a way to listen to a sequence while recording a new one? Also what does track do? One more, whats the easiest way to save your sequences on disk so that when you load up next time you can hear everything the same? I just got this and the book doesnt say why you do the things you do, it just says to do them. I appreciate it.

Chapter 3: Recording Sequences

Second sequence feature

This allows you to play back two sequences at the same time: the sequence already selected on the main screen, plus another one that you can select here. From the main screen, hold down SHIFT and press MISC. (numeric key 2), then press 2ndSEQ [F3].
Using the DATA wheel, select the sequence that you want to play alongside the sequence already selected on the main screen and press Turn ON [F6].
The main screen will reappear and 2nd will be displayed to the left of the Now: field.
To cancel second sequence playback, go back to the Second Sequence screen and press OFF [F6].
This sequence will play simultaneously with the active sequence or song.

4-1. Saving All Sequences & Songs

This saves all the sequence and song data of the MPC2000XL's memory. Select Save All Sequence & Songs. The file name will appear in the File: field. Press DO IT [F6].

Save ALL file

You can change the file name you are saving in the File name: field.
Tap a drum pad or rotate the DATA wheel to display the Name window.
After entering a name, press the ENTER [F5] key to confirm. If you save without pressing ENTER [F5 the entered name will be ignored and the file will be saved under the previous name.

4-2. Saving a Sequence
This saves a sequence data from the MPC2000XL's memory. The MPC2000XL sequence data will be saved as a standard MIDI file.
Select Save a Sequence and select the sequence you want to save in the File: field.

I know what you are saying, I know how to play them, I want to listen to one while recording another. Like playing one loop while recording drums on second sequence. Is that possible? My drums arent matching unless I over dub but then its one sequence and not two seperate ones. Can you tell me what I need to do.

Just go to the second sequence while the first one is playing mane. In the 2nd sequence window just select the first seq to be played back. then go the second seq at the main screen and record your stuff while the first seq is playing back. if dont wanna go thru the hassle of "playing" your drum parts over again in the second sequence then just copy the tracks from the first sequence to the second and make the adjustments accordingly mane. Of course you'd hafta figure all that out yourself.
