HELP!Recording My ISH?HELP!

What up everyone, i have had a mpc2000xl for about 2 months now and have really started to get into it, and i think it is slowly coming together...I want to be able to put my beats onto CD...now my friend is in a band and just bought a 12 track roland digital recorder with a cd burner...i brought my MPC over to his house...he told me i should put each instrument on a different track on the recorder. So i hit recorder and then pressed play on my MPC and at about 3 minutes i stopped...then i went to the next track to do the hi hats. but when it came to the point for them to start i was off when i pressed play...i know there is a different way to do it im just blanking..I know if i put it all on one track i cant change the levels on the individual tracks, and even further if i ever want to have an MC spit to it i want to be able to record his rhyme and then go back and take out snares here and there and other stuff to make the sound phat...sorry for blabbering but basically i am asking for any help or any trips on how some of you guys record your beats to cd and have a final copy...thanks a lot...anything will help...1

this is how I record my beats and breaks mane. I always record errthing to separate tracks, datways, I can not only fine tune my beats and breaks but it makes it easier for me to spot my mistakes cause I aint perfect or nothing you feel me mane? from there I then Send it all to the 8 outs department into the six ins of my 788 and then work my magic from there mane. I dunno if you know this, maybe you do so its all cool in he game but whenever I am sequencing my beats and breaks mane I always start from the first count on. I had that problem when I first got started. I would stop a sequence, try out some patterns then start up again on overdub and my shit would sound so off. Also, try fukkin with the edit and step function screens mane. You's be suprised at just how easy it makes doing certain things that you have in your head. Just dig around in that machine mane and it will love you back. I know alot of MPC heads and i dont know a single one that truly uses the machine to its full potential and thats the beauty of it mane, there are so many ways of doing things and so many new things to do on it. Its just so deceptively simple to use and easy to get started but its a deep piece of beatmachine, mane.
