8 outs inquiry

Hello All,
One quick question! How essential is the 8 outs. i know what it does but dont know if other users find this extremely important. It cost over 200 bucks and i'd rather put that money towards better monitors if i can. I have a hardware setup and im recording everything into my vs 1880

on the way you work- i couldn't do without mine (even though the rest of my set up has been packed away since april- boo!) but thats cos i tend to mix externally and need the separtion of drums and stuff- i also like to process individual hits such as compression/eq on bds and snares...so need them on there own- plus i also employee techniques such as side-chaining and stuff which needs signals to be separte- for example if im getting the bass drum to compress a beat ill need the bass drum on its own mixer track- hence the need for the extra outputs......of course i probably have the worst monitoring system in the world so its a trade off, i still cant afford those alesis mk2's.....

thanks for the insight.. do you individually out the sounds in song mode that way your song comes out with its right mix. i think imma make the move to get this. it does sound important enough..i consider going master out l/r but it seems like a pain in the ass.

its horses for course mate, some people are quite content just using the stereo pair and get good results- more likely more hard work but thats whats its all about right?

i set up my programs so bd goes out of 1, sn out of 2, maybe hats spread over 3 and 4 if their stereo, i still have 4 left for other elements such as pecussion, bass, lead or bleeps and squeeps...plus with eq, inserts and DO's on each channel i can route and process to my hearts content- and if i tips the balnace i grab the fader not jump into the mpc menu....havent looked back since ive had mine...and it gets the lion share of my mixer with my 3 synths all having to share the other channels...
