Your favorite HipHop keyboard/MIDI machine/sound module???

I am wondering what the best hip hop sounding (deep basses, chirps, buzzes, funky isht) keyboard is out there. I have a Triton Le but not sure if this is the thing for me and I still have time to take it back and get something more funky (and perhaps less expensive??) if need be. It is great for strings, guitars and the like, but seems iffy for drums, and more Hip Hop oriented sounds.

I wonder if I should try another brand or type that might be more suitable to me, plus the whole sequencing/sampling offerings of the Triton might be overkill since the MPC has all of those capabilities. I have heard maybe get a Yamaha or Ensoniq but not sure. Any suggestions offered are encouraged. Please recommend what works for you or what you might want if you had the LE equivalent to spend to accompany your MPC. Peace.

I feel the same way bout my triton, its cool but...Try a nord lead, thats what I'm thinken about picken up when I get some loot.

On a different note, I now know to search for topics and can see that this sort of thing has been discussed before. I am just I guess asking for any clarification if having the Le with MPC is overkill with the sampling and sequencing options being very similar and then I can get a cheaper synth that provides the sounds and use the difference to get other equipment. If you have any other suggestions anyone, I appreciate it.

Yeah...when I think about it, the triton is an important part of my production for tha fact that if you play live instruments...I sample guitars into the triton with the mpc playin so the timings always on point plus the tritons got nice effects compared to the limited mpc's...but I ALWAYS sample my parts into the mpc...I nefer fuk with the tritons sampler...If you got one its mos def. cool to have around, just not the end all be all to production...oh...and I could throw a rock and hit Ben Wallace's afro from the back porch of my appartment so how couldent I be lovin this...check out speeklyf.com, I got a song up there...my comp. dont have a real audio setup so its not the best as far as sound quality goes but it gives an alright idea to what I'm doin over here...

I mean if your looking for space filling stuff to lace up your mpc based music, little bells, moogish basses, strings, etc....cop the ASR and some sample disks from syntaur.com, I think it sounds better than the Triton.
I think they even have Triton sample sets for the ASR floating around.

Anyways, a module will be cheaper , unless your triton is also your only keyboard in which case you will have to get a module and a controller. Some good modules are the roland xv3080 or any xv stuff from roland, that motif rack is a beast , and I like the Proteus 2000 with mo phatt card. I think any one of those is a good sounding module. Getting an asr is another sampler, although it is a full fledge sampler, but overkill if you only sample with Mpc. Man there are so many options its hard to choose. Those analog synths (Nord) are pretty cool , but I don't know if they will fit your style of music. There are some good sample CD's out there and that would definetly be a cheaper way to go but i would only buy cd's that are recommend through this forum. So pretty much I would probably go buy a module and add like a hip-hop type expansion, then I would buy some sample Cd roms and you should be straight for a minute. Good luck and check out the Guitar Center for clearance stuff. I have got some good deals from the one in roseville Peace.

Much love to all of you for the help...still tryin to figure this all out, but all the input is appreciated. Might stick with the Triton and then try to tweak to make my own programs but the sequencer and sampler do feel like a bit of overkill, in which case I could return it and save some $4-500 and get something else, doing a little more research this time, knowing that the MPC will rule my beat making future and not what synth or modules I end up with. Since Motif is basically same cost that is out, asr is still a consideration but the age and duplication of so many headz out there bothers me a bit, but phat sounds are phat sounds nevertheless. The rest is up to the artist I guess...

BTW---Pistons in 03-04? Beasts of the Easts on a come up. Even though I am out in Kobeland. Hah!
