zip problem

I have my scsi zip set to scsi 5 and with the termination switch to on. When i try and load a beat, i will go "Load" and then go to scsi 5, and then it will have a bunch of question marks where it says scsi 5. i have tried it on all my disks and the drive wont even start to read, which is leading to either the scsi cable itself, or this supposed scsi fuse. anybody else have this problem?? please help!

maybe the drive isnt compatible with your mpc?

how long have you been using it? probably isnt broken or anything.

if its not the xl then its probably a blown scsi fuse. you can get it fixed at vst for about $75.

Is the zip new or have you had it awhile?

thanks for the replies, I have had the drive for about 3 years now and I have never had a problem with it. The only options I have right now is to buy a whole new zip drive, new scsi cable, and then try that. If that doent work then it is probably a blown scsi fuse. Is there anyway to check if it is, FOR SURE, a blown scsi fuse? I'd like to know that first before spending the money on another zip drive and a cable. thanks for the help

You should probably just invest in a new zip.I'm sure there are ways to test the fuse but zips are cheap and to spend ten bucks on a new one wouldn't break you would it?

I have had the same problem. I have mine in the middle since I don't have a SCSI cable to fit JUST the Zip > to MPC. I have an external SCSI drive at the end with the Termination deally. I can see the Hard Drive but Never have seen the ZIP. It never sees it. My computer sees it fine though.
Not sure what the deal is. Its an Iomega drive too.I took the ZIp out and put a CD-Rom in. I just burn CD's and read what I need from there.

I figured it out!!! Upon inspecting my scsi cable I noticed on the 50 pin side that one of the contact pins was BENT!!! All I did was bend back into position and it works now! If anybody has this problem they should this first because I was tripping hard on this. anyways, carry on!

No doubt. Whenever my Zip drive acts up, I just turn of everything, disconnect, reconnect and poer on, and the drive gets back to work.
