SCSI 1 drive 9Gb - work?

I found a cheap external scsi-1 9Gb,does it work with my mpc2000xl? Is it ok with scsi-1 or do I need scsi-2?
Maybe I can grab 4 of them if someone else wants to buy...

Actually it's a typo. I have a 6 gig laptop drive in the MPC and a 10 gig external.

Either SCSI type should work but these are sort of misleading labels. If it is a wide drive (16-bit), it needs to be able to negotiate down to narrow (8-bit) or have a jumper so you can force it to 8 bit. These are typically thes 68 pin drives. Beware some drives will not work with the MPC. I have a 4.5 Quantum Viking that does not.

I know this is off topic, but MPC3000, how hard was it to get that hard drive put in internally ? I was thinking about doing that.

Hard is relative. It was easy for me since I worked at a repair center fixing keyboards, amps, recorders and samplers all day.

If you never so much as soldered in your life, I imagine it can be pretty hard.

MPC3000, good looking out on the info. I relied on the manual for that info. I guess u can't even trust the manual these days huh. Pretty sad being misinformed by companies that u trust aint it?

I suspect the problem was in the translation of the manual from Japenese and there was no intentional misleading. Aside from that, there really isn't any damage being done by this `wrong` information. So you have a smaller drive, no big deal.
