microKORG and MPC2000XL

Does anyone have ANY experience using these machines TOGETHER??? I'm having a REALLY hard time with these two. I have tried different things like MIDI in the microKORG from MIDI out A on the MPC. With this I setup, as long as I have programmed wav files onto a pad (like drums), I can play any SYNTH sounds on the pads (only certain notes though). If I MIDI out from microKORG to MIDI in 1 on MPC I can play the drum wav files from my MPC on the microKORG on certain keys.
Neither of these is what I am trying to accomplish here. What I'd like to do is basically use my MPC kinda like a Digital Track Recorder with my microKORG via MIDI and have the MPC bangin' out the drums while my synth is juicin' up the beat. IS THIS POSSIBLE??? I'm not really fluent in terms of MIDI and the way it works so if you've done something like this before ~ PLEASE HELP ME

Its been a while since I've used a 2k. But assuming the sequencer is the same as the 1k, choose a different track number for the microkorg, set the track type to MIDI, and set the MIDI channel to match the microkorg.

1) the outs of ur micro korg need to be into ur mixer.,

MIDI IS NOT AUDIO..ONLY DATA/COMMANDS

2)the outs of ur mp need to be inur mixer

now, "choose a different track number for the microkorg, set the track type to MIDI, and set the MIDI channel to match the microkorg."

you can now control the korg w/ ur mp

if u want ur own drums instaed of korg drums, load up a pgm and use that as one of ur tracks...but put the track type to "drum" and not "midi"

that way, u have mp drums and korg synths

Thnx for the info! I was actually wondering myself if I needed a mixer for this type of "audio routing".

What's the microKorg like?

i heard it's realy nice for bass and strings.
and that the filter is nice.
but i also heard that the keys are to small.

Well, let me just say that the microKorg is just a couple inches wider than a PC keyboard, so yes, the keys are small COMPARED to a real piano or Triton keyboard. But, that still didn't keep me from buying one. I do NOT regret the purchase. Check this out to see what you can do with an MPC and a microKorg. In this song, I actually sampled the microKorg to the MPC. Since I do not have a "digital recorder", I HAVE to sample my microKorg if I want the song to have synth. It works, but sometimes you don't get the same effects of the keys and wavepatterns if you sample it.
Anyway, I say buy it and have fun!! ANY sound can be produced by this machine it seems like. I haven't found any limits yet, and I've had this keyboard for about 6 months.

K... I know exactly what u want 2 do and it is quite possible. U want 2 sequence the micro using the mpc as the controller.

Audio - Plug the audio outs from the micro to your speakers or monitors (whatever u use 2 hear the mpc since there is no mixer). Do the same with the 2K outs.

MIDI - 2K midi out 2 the micro midi in. Micro midi out 2 the 2K midi in. Set the local 2 off on the micro. Go 2 sequence mode on the micro 2 set the corresponding midi channels and traccs. 4 example, set the micro 2 midi channel 1 on tracc 1. Then set the 2K 2 receive midi channel 1 on tracc 1. If u leave the tracc type as 'drum' on the 2K, u can play the micro via the mpc pads.

Go slow and it'll clicc. Good lucc. -uno-
