People here say that the 8outs is useful for doing multitrack recording "faster" but from what i can tell, that doens't make sense. I have recorded tracks into cubase using track-mute and MTC sync, one track at a time, and it works great. to do "multiple tracks at a time" with 8outs seems like alot of fooling with the mixer, plus you would have multi-tracked the 'pads' and not necessarily 'tracks'.
am i missing something? it sounds like the 8outs is more useful for using with an effect processor like the MFC.
however, it's a shame you have to get it just to get digital-IO. maybe someone who has the 8outs board could trace the pins on the 8out header which have the signal and it might be easy to make your own spdif connection.
