Pro-tools Le and MPC2000XL....

Prior to having my mpc 2000xl I had my triton connected with my pro-tools, so once I pressed played play on my pro-tools it triggered my triton through midi.

Now that I have an mpc 2000xl what is the best way to hook everything up? If possible? I wanted to be able to press play on pro-tools and it would trigger my mpc 2000xl to play. Can someone please assist me and tell me whats the best way to operate all three(triton,mpc,pro-tools)?

Ok, this is how u do it. First make sure that the MPC is connected to the the computer via midi properly. then go it to the MPC's MIDI Sync shift+9. set the MIDI in to recieve MIDI Clock. Now you go into Protools, go to the MIDI column, then go down to MIDI Beat clock click set the proper input device that the MPC is connected to. and then press play on the transport bar, also make suer you set the exact temp on the 0Protools to the one thats on the Mpc. Ok!!!!!!!!

dug this up in a search, lots of people asking how to hook it up (not very difficult) but what would the benefit be? i just know the basics so maybe im missing something, but could someone give me a few reasons why this would be a good setup?

BTW: i have a 2000XL and an m box 1

MIDI allows you to keep ya tracks together a lot easier then just recording sound. When you are using MIDI to record, you are just hittin play on one of the machines, and its controlling the start and stop of one or more instruments at the same time, which will keep u having to go in and move forward or back the audio... everything is already synched up

there are other great reasons for using MIDI, but that would be one of the main things why most people want to use it with there audio recording equipment
