8 outs????

I own a mpc 2000 without the 8 out expansion board. I am getting one from a friend, what is the importance of the 8 out expansion board?

to be able to track out your beats to a DAW or multi-tracker, each drum hit/sample on a separate track. for better control over effects once you track it out.
