Recessed buttons on the MPC2000XL (original or MCD)....

I received my MPC2000XL-MCD in the mail yesterday and notice that the buttons on the number key pad and the soft key buttons (under main screen window) are not as pronounced as all the other buttons. I noticed the difference cause I have had a MPC2000 classic and the buttons were higher. Is this normal? Is anyone elses machine as such?

I had that problem. On the back, in the center, there is a screw that hold the top plate on. All you have to do is bend that little screw loop in towards the MPC. I ended up not being able to put the screw back in but now all the buttons are even. There's a thread on here somewhere about the fix actually. I may have descibed it better in that.

Not a problem. My original post didn't help anyone out. I think people actually were down on it and said they would rather have the recessed buttons. I'm glad someone can benifit from the information. I actually learned that trick from TSI which is in the music store I work and just so happens to be 1 of the 2 only authorized Akai service centers. So I knew it was legit advice.
