1) Download a copy of the OS again.
2) Put a freshly formatted floppy in the PC drive.
3) Open the downloaded zip file and exract directly to the floppy. Do not extract the update file to the PC first.
4) Put disc in MPC.
5) Boot.
6) when booted, open the file on the floppy and open it to write to flash.

Booting off floppy alone does not write the OS to flash, you still have to use the LOAD operation.

thanx for the reply, but.... it worked once , i loaded the os from floppy to flash, it said " writing to flash showing the percentage being written, turned it of and it started al over.....keeps asking for the akai floppy....just to be sure ,what exactly do you mean by booting, just turning the machine on or something in combination with holding buttons and turning the power on?
Help is much appreciated......

"turned it of and it started al over"

It only does that when it is corrupt. Like I said, download a another copy from the Akai site and extract to a new floppy and try again. Repeat as necessary. It has worked for 1000's of other people.

ok, could it have somehing to do with the fact that i use Mac with an external USB floppydrive, cos when i try to put the file on a MPC formated disc it keeps giving writing failures? i'll try it with a PC this evening.... maybe this'll fix it........
