powder coating my 2xl

i have an extra face plate for my 2xl, the company i work for works close with a company that plastic coats/powder coats, tommorow i am sending it to them to get powder coated black, have any of you tried this?
hopefully it will all work out and it wont be too thick for the buttons to go back through it.i guess i could sand it down anyhow, also. would the screen print work on the powdercoat,i know nothing of shit like that so any input would be nice,

I would guess that powder coating would work best. I think thats how the MPC's are factory painted in the first place. Just make sure that they only do the outside though. I wanna see this when you are done! As far as the lettering goes, I'm sure they can screen them on after the powder coat. Really, I wanna see this when you are done! Good luck playa!

werd. the guy just came and picked it up .he said it might be a few weeks to do because they are so busy right now and im sorta gettin a freebee.

the waldorf xt has a nice ochre powder coating. i like the texture, but the surface is harder to keep clean.

i got the face plate back today, looks pretty good,tho hard to keep klean,
i am going to get with my friend who does his own screen printing and he is going to work on it for my lettering ,ill post some pics when i can,

I'm dying to know how this turns out as I'm planning on doing exactly the same thing to my 2kclassic; powerdcoat, then screen on new artwork.

I'm also creating my own eps template based on the original, updating the Akai logo, tagging it as a "limited edition", etc.

My plan also includes a new screen and black pads from vst...

what is vst? a website? can i get the address?
