This one look OK to you peoples?

www.digitalera.co.uk/detail.html?productref=79

It's been the only one I could find in the UK so far. Anyone else seen em cheaper elsewhere in the UK? It's a pretty decent price.

Done some research and I think it'll work. Just thought I'd check before I order one to swap with my internal Zip.

Thanks.

I only posted 7 hours ago dude!

I'll be sure to give you all an update if and when I get one. Just waiting for some advice from those in the know before I order one. It looks like it should work to me. Just want some second opinions from others...

That's all I needed. Thanks, I know you have one Lampdog.

I ordered one, should be installed by the end of the week I guess. I'll update for those that want to know. I could make a new thread with words that'll come up in a search, that'll cut down on threads for UK cats looking for a suitable card reader. They seem to be like gold dust in this country.

:D

i wanna buy one but , is it easy to install? Is the mpc will recognize the card reader without doing anything except plug it in?
A friend of mine buy a second hand mpc with a card reader built in, and he does'nt have the same os as i got on mine?

My MPC2000xl has a floppy installed currently.

I just read on that FAQ:

If you are replacing the floppy.... The major concern is only of supplying power to the drive. Some drives may use same connector that the floppy uses, some readers use the larger connector.

But it doesn't actually say which readers will work (which use the same connector as the floppy)

Does anyone know?

None, no floppy cable. use atapi/ide cable.
There is an atapi/ide cable connector ON the
2kxl motherboard when you open up the machine.
That is what zip drives and card readers use to connect
to the motherboard.

Update for all of you who wanted one.

The drive turned up this morning and it's EXACTLY the same as this one.

So it should work!

Just won an EB16 on ebay and copped a gig or so assorted memory cards for free from work so things are lookin' up!

thank's guy's for dropping knowledge ,
just one last question, what's the difference between the basic version of the os on the 2kxl and the the 1.14, is there major changes or is it just for MCD?
