im trying to edit something to pan L toR quickly one event L next event R into the sequencer by RECORDING MIX CHANGES.
I cant do it live the seq plays to fast even if i slow it to 30bpm i cant use the JOG wheel all the way from on extreme to the other. in the manual on page 68 editing sequences: Inserting an event , specify the point of insertion in the NOW: field and press INSERT[f4]
select the type of event you want to insert from the following NOTE, PITCH BEND, CONTROL CHANGE, MIXER.... by pressing DO IT f5 you can return to the step edit screen. Since the event set in the insert event window will be inserted, set the parameter with the cursor keys and data wheel.

first of all i set the REC MIX CHANGES to ON in the mixer setup

When im in step and the cursor is in the now field i press INSERT f4, and IT DOES NOTHING the diagram in the manual does not pop up giving the option
type: NOTE

i moved the cursor and hit insert. i tried to hit insert from the main screen you cant. I tried changing the stereo mix source from PROGRAM to DRUM and copy pgm to drum: yes,no NO LUCK
(can some on check on there mpc by setting mix chng to On then go in step and hit insert and see what happens??????

I can see the >STEREO PAN 36/A01 P: L39

in the sequencer from when i tried to do it live and i can edit the L/R but when i move to the next event and hit INSERT i get nothing, the f4 button on my mpc works because on the main screen it says SOLO and that blinks when i hit it there.

Other wise i would have to start over have a new note number for every individual event and in the mixer pan them L to R, i would get done with this little project in 2010. confusing because i would have make 2 copies of everything one left one right then reprogram the whole sequence. I made the sequence with a lot of events to make the L TO R thing come off. I just want to accomplish a task with out spent 3 weeks worth of days off programing only to find out it sounds wack and throwing it out.

Its right there in the manual, i cant understand why the INSERT f4 does nothing while im in STEP EDIT

please try pg 68 in the manual with the rec mix chng on and see what happens.

"cursor is in the now field i press INSERT f4, and IT DOES NOTHING"

Have you tried moving the cursor AWAY from the 'Now' field?

Does the F4 button work in other screens?
