Sup , I just got an MPC about 3 weekz ago and feel i'm definitely getting the hang of it, one thing though, we use the MPC live in my band and we have some samples than range from 1-2 secs to like 1min samples, if u are just triggering say a 20sec sample from one of the drum pads that isn't using the sequencer, is there a way of stopping that pad like half way thru? I know this is prolly a basic question but i just wanted to ask aye any help would b awesome az, since i know don't know how to stop them if i trigger the wrong sample i have to wait for it to finish b4 doing anything else...is there a way???

what I do is assign a blank pad next to the pad I wanna cut off...then I go into the params scriddeen, select the note I wanna cut off and then open window on the voice overlap to get to the mute assign window and select the empty pad space ...that way you can cut off the sample at whichever point you please, yow mean?.....I am sure there are other ways of doing this like using the note off function but this is just how I do it, mane

aha, now that's a handy tip!!!
A thing what is missing in the 2K is when you stop your song and the samples
keep on playing, you could press stop twice as on the MPC1000/4000 to mute all the samples imidiantly.
This should be on the wishlist for an OS update.

a couple of way that I know
1. Set the sound to Note Off in the program screen. Doing this, you have to hold the pad down to play the whole sample. When you release the pad the sample stops..... might not be good for live show.
2. Open the trim screen. Opening the trim, automatically cuts off the sound. So what I do is open the trim and then press close window. Cuts the sound right off.

The feature that Swiss is talking about is in the 2kxl manual.
Go to it, follow step by step and push buttons at the same time.

couldnt you just trim the sample to where you want it to stop?
that way you could also use your decay and have it fade out so its not so abrupt.

I thought you had to have a sound assigned to the pad in order for this to work? I don't know, maybe my mind's playing tricks on me again.... I'll have to test this as soon as I get home.
I always assign a hihat to the pad and turn the filter to 0.

What also works is to turn the note overlap OFF and just play the note again on the position you want the sample to end with a low velocity so you can't hear it. Although this can become problematic if you later edit the sequence by rearranging bars, ect.

Word up. And if you got a long ass sample and
don't want to keep playing it to hear the end point over and over,
you can go to the top left, change playX soft button to AFTER END,
and when you hit playX soft button, you hear what's after your highlighted
area. Much quicker on a long sample.
