Same sound left pan + right pan sounds tinny

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone else noticed this, or maybe I'm not doing something right. I have a drum loop and I want to play it in both ears so I pan it left and pan it right to make it stereo and sound more powerful. But it sounds tinny, not the same anymore. Why is this? Thanks,

Put the left loop where you would normally (probably at the start of each bar) In step edit place the right loop 3 ticks (3/96) forward.

I think this is the effect you are looking for. Shadow uses it on the beats for 'Walkie Talkie' nice stereo effect.

I'm guessing 3 ticks but it really depends on the tempo of the track. Try 2 and 4. Basically if you are too many ticks out it'll sound like there is two loops playing and if you are too close it will sound as you described 'tinny' in fact i think it would be better described as 'boxy'.

This is a sweet trick that adds a whole new dimension to your beats esspecially if you chop them up and do it with single hits and then use a centre panned version for delays and effects, takes a lot of time and is quite heavy on the brain after a few hours but that's all art of the job right?

Anyway, just mess around and you'll know what I talkng about.

thanks Dos, I'll try it. Right now I'm putting the other loop one tick later than the other one. A few ticks more might do the trick.
