Saving and loading problems

Ok....I have my two emu modules midi'd up to my mpc perfectly....I'm able to switch sounds and sound banks on the modules with my mpc. So that part is understood. Now my question is....why is it when I save my sequence(made on the mpc using sounds from my modules) and all sounds and programs I am unable to recall the sounds exactly as I left them when I load the track back up?...what am doing wrong? I would do this same thing on my triton classis and everything loaded up and went to all the sounds fine...with my mpc I have to back in there and program them back in...So what is the correct way to save sequences and control changes and have them recalled when I load the track up again??? Anyone

R U saying that when you load up the seq. on your mpc the sound modules dont have the same sounds oaded as before, or the mpc doesnt have the same sounds loaded?

the modules....when I load the beat back up in the mpc I'm expecting the module to go back to the sounds I had programmed within the mpc...but nothing happens....

maybe it has to do with the program? have you tried saving the program also? try saving programs ans sounds as well as your sequence.

If I'm reading your question right, you need to save the tweaked sounds as a preset group on the Emu sound module(s), in order to use the same sound set again when you power up. So you'd load "song A" for example, which would load all the sounds and settings you set up for that song.

I have an Emu protues but I haven't used it for ages so I can't remember the exact terminology at the moment.

Does that make sense?

thanks for the help folks but what I'm tryen to say is this...and sorry if I come off with incorrect terminology....the modules are midi'd to the mpc to where I control the modules through the mpc...I highlight pgm(on mpc) and use the nob(on mpc) to cycle through the sounds 1-127(on the modules) I have found my desired sounds for each track and then begin to make a beat...my problem is this...I save this beat( all sequences, all program and sounds) with the impression that when I come back and load this beat the mpc will tell my module which sounds go to which track as was previously programmed before I saved everything and turn it off....BUT NO...it's not recalling and I have to manually assign the sounds again...so my question is What am I doing wrong???? for example why wont midi track 1a go back to "whateverbass" sound 15(on my module) when I reload the beat????? thanks for any help

I think my point still applies in that case then. Never used it midi'd up to the MPC, but I would say try that. Just manually load up all the sounds as a preset group and then load up the MPC. I guess the MPC is telling the EMU to play midi channel 1-5 (for example), rather than the individual sounds.

Are the sounds being played (after you've booted up the MPC) the same sounds that were playing on those channels when you first booted up the EMU?

I'd guess you can use control messages to do the change for you but I've never really dug that deep into the proteus TBH.

sounds are being played from the modules but not the right sounds....and I know there is a way to save the beat and then load it with the right sounds being recalled...I just havn't figured it out yet, thats why I'm hoping someone on this forum has.

its not an issue with the emu module bro, it has to do with the mpc.....theres more to saving everything then just the simple method of saving all seq. and programs and sounds...thats what I'm trying to figure out..hopefully someone will read this and get what I'm tryen to say.

whats not to understand...? I have mpc and 2 modules....modules are midi'd from in to out(midi cable going to the out on the mpc). I change drum track to midi track(on MPC) I highlight PGM(on mpc) and use the knob(on mpc) to go through the sounds on my modules until I find a good one for that track...I continue to do so, for each track, until I have all the sounds that I want...I make my beat with these sounds(from module but sequenced on the mpc's sequencer)..everything is good...I save that sequence and sounds and programs on my zip within the mpc....only problem is when I load the beat back up the sounds are all wrong..like the module wasn't told by the mpc which sounds I previously chose and the module went back to it's default sounds....so how do I save my beat so that the right sounds are recalled...does it have to do with a sample dump or more to saving...what is the secret????? I hope this is easier to understand....Thankyou for your patience and help everyone

I just sent you an pm about this. Its called a sysex midi dump. This question was asked before, by me, so I know its on the forum. Maybe another MPC head has ran into it or remembers how to do it. I dont unfortuantely because I never use it. Too much of a hassle for me and my set up. Peace

Can't you just do it how I said? Get it all how you like it (using the MPC or the Proteus) and then save that setup on the proteus as a song and load it up next time you turn everything on?
