IISDMC in 2000XL problem?

I just installed one of these and I can't get SD cards to read. CF work ok. Couldn't try any other media because thats all I have right now. The MPC keeps saying "not ready" whenever I try to load, save or format the SD card. I had 1.20 installed already before the card reader. Tried 1.14 no luck. Re-installed 1.20, no luck. I wonder if I just have a defective reader??? I'm going to call PSI, where I bought it, and find out if there are issues with these cards or perhaps a bad reader but if any of you who have this model already know what's up I'd love to know. I have that model but I've never had a problem using SD cards. I was also able to run 1.14 comfortably for about 2 months with the reader installed, no problem.

I'm not sure if it could be anything on the technical side of things.

I'd prolly go out and buy a cheap/small memory stick or other type of card and see if it works.

I just tried Smart media. Got the same "not ready". Since the SD and smart media are in the same slot, I'm going to assume it's defective. Akai also said that it should work. Thanks

So it turned out that the jumper just needed to be moved. Before realizing this I ordered a new one and expected credit for the old. It's not going to work out like that now. So I was wondering if there is any way I could use the second one in my s2000. Anyone know the answer to that one? MPC3000 perhaps...

so do you need 1.20 installed to use a card reader? i've heard both yes and no and would like to know for sure. i've got 1.14 with internal zip and don't have a way to get 1.20 on to a zip to install.

its the jumper settings. You probably have the jumper set to either not read the SM drive, or you have the SM drive set to the SCSI ID of something else on the machine, so the machine ignores it.

what are your jumper settings?

Yeah it was the jumpers. Posted the realization a few replies back.
Thanks though. PSI was also nice enough to let me return the "advanced replacement" I order without charging me a restocking fee. I mean they neglected to mention the jumper settings when I called them about the issue. It dawned on me on my drive home from work Friday and low and behold, both slots work. I'm psyched. Little things that make writing music a little easier really make you write more music. I remember when I went from external zip to internal. That increased my productivity alot. 2 less cables to deal with. Now with the cards...My computer likes them so much better than zip, much faster than zip and I'm much less worried about data corruption/loss.
For everyone who does not have the card reader yet, do it and you'll be very happy. I promise.

IISDMC has been reported to work with 1.14. But if you have another card reader, you might need the upgrade.

If you wanna transfer the OS file on to a Zip, remove the Zip drive from the MPC, temporarily plug it in your computer (don't forget the power connector) and copy the file.

Yes, yes and yes. Not only is the media more reliable it's FASTER because there's no spin-time involved. And most of all, it's SILENT!!!
