EXTERNAL SCSI CARD READER...

Has any one out there been succesful with using an EXTERNAL SCSI card reader with there MPC 2000 XL? I read on Midicase that the MPC is compatible with an external one.

What are the specifications needed for it to be compatible with the MPC? Anyone know of any that deffinatley work?

Also if i wanted to just exchange my current ZIP 100 for a INTERNAL card reader would there be any soldering involved? Or is it just a plug and play thing?

Externals should work fine

As for installing internally.. you will have to solder.. u dont have to but I reccomend it better than twisting wires and/or elec. tapeing them. (this is only if you havea the floppy in there) If you already have a converted power supply cable then you wont have to do anything but plug and play(power wise)

If you get a SCSI reader you will have to buy one of those 50 pin connectors so you can run its from your reader to the board... and that SCSI 50 pin port on the mohterboard of the MPC is just in the worse place it oculd ever be... but you gotta deal with it :lol:

Litronic Argus in the traditional sense = NO.

However ... that one is a true external SCSI2 model ... It may indeed work.

Goto a computer surplus place and purchase an "external case" to accomodate the "internal drive" ... after all... and "external drive" is simply an "internal drive" mounted in a suitable "external case".

sorry man just a lil other question lol...
if the internal reader is type 3 and my sandisk card is type 1... will this machine be able to read my card or no?

Most internal SCSI readers support more than just type III.

The PCD-47B series should support your SANDISK media OK.

It has slots that can support multiple card types OK although with some card types you will need an adapter.

question that i thought might be ok to ask in this thread....

i plan on having an s series sampler connected to my mpc's scsi port.

well, since the sampler will take up the only scsi port on my mpc, how can I plug up an external storage device that would normally use the scsi port?

ok like say i have my s5000 connected to my mpc (via scsi), then how could i fit a zip drive into the equation?

Smoove I thought I explained to you on the phone that you don't need to connect them by scsi for ANY REASON! Get on aim..
