Different sounds on different velocities on the same pad??

hey yo,

just wondering how i can achieve this in my MPC2000XL?? I can do it in softsamplers, and in my Emu sampler... but, how can i do this on the MPC?

Say I've got 3 separate sounds of a hi hat, one hit very softly, one hit moderately loud, and one fully cracked at full strength, and i want to assign the 3 samples, to be triggered by the same pad, but at different velocities? like when i hit the pad soft, it plays the soft hi hat, when i hit a bit harder, it plays the harder hi hat, and when i hit it really hard it plays the hardest hi hat??

Thats not possible. But u can assign the 3 different sounds to one pad. Once u do that all u wanna do is go into the mixer screen and change the levels on each sound. This method will play all three sounds at the same time. To achieve this go into the program screen and assign the pad to simul then pic what pads u want to play at the same time

Rather than hitting the pad at different velocities and getting your soft, moderate and full volume hihats, just change the velocity of the samples in the Trim screen, then go into the Program screen, highlight the Mode: field and select SIMULT. Now you can select any two other notes to play along with the note you are editing.

(If changing the velocity of certain sounds (in Trim mode) conflicts with other parts of the track where you want the ‘soft’ hat in one sequence to be loud in another, just make a copy(s) of that sound.)

Yeah my bad. I had it typed out but go distracted and hit submit a while later.

When you adjust the levels of a sound in the mixer, doesn’t that sound have to be assigned to a track?

its possible. you have to turn the velocity switching on, but i think its limited to 2 sounds(could be wrong tho, only used it for open/closed hats). on my 3k, this option is under the program edit page... if that helps at all.

man no it aint possible. I never seen dat option on my xl. One pad cannot trigger two samples by hitting it harder

oh well, i thought maybe this was carried over to the 2k

Wait, wait, wait!!!! On the XL you can put mre than on sound on a single pad? How? I thought that was only available on the 1000 and 2500?
