Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hey all,

I'm so new to this MPC though I've bought it since last year. My English isn't that good or maybe you can't really tell but I've only been to this country about for 4 years & I'm currently trying to learn this MPC again - cause i've gave up on it for awhile since the menu was TOO complicated for me to understand.

Questions:

1) How could I hook up my my MPC 2000 XL to a TURNTABLE?

2) How can i save the pad bank or drum program into my floopy disk? (I have to reload it everytime after i turn it off - i tried to save it ALL but seems like i am either missing some steps or i don't know the correct way of doing it!)

3) Is it possible for me to hook up my IPOD to my MPC 2000 XL without upgrading it? (I know there is a possibility to upgrade the MPC 2000 XL on the back - but my isn't upgraded yet) - I wanna do that so i can sample just like how people sample the sounds from a turntable.

These are the questions i got so far - thanks for taking the time reading all these - it'd be great someone can help me on this!!! =) -KO

1) If u want to hook ure mpc up to a turntable I would first get a mixer. THen plug the mixer outs into your mpc ins. Depending upon what kind of mixer u get u might need to get some rca to 1/4 mono adaptors.

2) If u want to save your drum programs to disk, save all programs and sounds. If u used these sounds in a beat then u need to save .all as well

3) Sure u can hook your Ipod up to your mpc. If u have a mixer u would need a headphone to rca adapter and plug your Ipod into your mixer. Since the main out of your mixer is going into your mpc you should be able to get sounds into your mpc.

Dont give up my man its not rocket science. U realy need to read your manual though, all this stuff is elementary

Thank you for responding it man!!! lol - sigh - yeah - it's "elementary" yet i'm havin' trouble wit it - SIGH...............o.O - haha.

Well - here's what i got - i got a TASCAM US 122 that connects to my computer from USB & i got this 8 track recording mixer from Alesis that hooked up both on my interface & this pair of monitors from Edirol (MA-10A) - i don't have any fancy things - but just trying to get this thing working so i can move on!!! lol!!!!

1) Do you think this mixer (8 track Alesis) would work with my MPC without separating the setup (TASCAM / Alesis 8 track Mixer & Edirol Monitors) i'm havin' wit my computer right now? Cause i record people's vocals through this setup - or should I buy another set of setup for the good & the better such as E-MU 1820m? & use this Alesis mixer with my MPC 2000 XL instead??

2) I actually did exactly what you said & whenever i open the disk on my computer and MPC 2000 XL - all it says is NAME.ALL & when i try to scroll the data thingy on VIEW to see different types of file - i couldn't load the programs that i've saved or i don't know - i'm gonna try again after i send this because i keep makin' these patterns without the rigth instruments because whenever i turn it off & re-open it - they are ALL gone again.. =(

3) For my ipod - you mentioned about headphone to rca adapter - did you mean get one of those thingy that transfer from the small plug into a 1/4th cable?

dude, i appreciate for takin' your time readin' all these man - i've been strugglin' for months - now i'm somehow feeli'n alive again because there are people like you who's experienced & wellin' to help out others!!! -KO.
