Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

i got the cf drive from psism.com. i've done what i've read in these posts. powered the drive from the mother board with an ide power connector and connected it back to the motherboard with a 40 pin ide flat cable.

anyways i turn on the mp... all the lights turn on, the screen lights up and all it says is "mpc 2000xl".... wtf?

i tried turning the 40 pin connector around in all combinations.

one way it lights up and says "mpc 2000xl" the other way it lights up and says nothing.

i tried turning the pins on the drive to master but still no help.

help!!! i'm trying not to panic here.. lampdog! someone! HELP

check your manual, 2kxl startup options, might be set to floppy.
I set mine to atapi for cf reader.

If you DO NOT see "ATAPI" on that menu then your
jumper in back of the drive is on the wrong spot.
Your mpc will not recognize ATAPI if the jumper is
on the wrong spot.

Open up your mpc:

If it is on master put it on single.
If it is on single put it on master.

When you finally get it right you will see ATAPI on that menu.
You will not see the floppy on that menu anymore.

I am also runnin os 1.14 on my 2kxl..

it was the power connector! the one i originally threw in there had the red at #1 and black at #2. in the diagrams it had the red in #4 and the black in #3.

got a new connector and BINGO

i'm in business.

thank you Lampdog and Tadmen

your knowledge is infinite.

i am eternally grateful

may the MPC legacy live on
