multi tracking

this is my situation, okay I have a 2000xl, I'm running 4 sound moduels through, and I use my triton as a midi controller, the problem I'm having is, say I just wanna use one sound module to make a track. When I record one track on to my mpc and get ready to record another track(2) soon as I turn the dial on the same module the first track changes, what am I doing wrong ? Can someone help me because I hate jumping from module to module trying to make a track. I've been dumping everything to pro tools but that takes too much time and the fun out of making tracks you guys are pretty smart up in here can yall show me some love thx

find out the appropriate midi numbers for the programs/patches you use on your first module. on sseq1 make a seperate midi track for EACH of those programs/patches w/ the appropriate midi channel number.

same with your other modules. remember a and b on your midi plugs though..

I hear what you saying I know the proper numbers and the a and b stuff but when I wanna record lets say 5 tracks on my motif after I record the first track and wanna record track to and I go to change the dial track one changes and I need that to stay the same I hope I'm making sence

change the dial on different tracks within the same seq.

once you record on a track don't change the instrument on that track.

I would use my mpc as sequencer, triton as module, triton has 16 tracks. I'd load up the 16 tracks with 16 different instruments, assign them 1-16 midi numbers. On my 2kxl, I'd use the same seq but 16 different tracks, one for each triton instrument.

First of all thanks for taking the time to help me out.... But that's my problem once I have a track recorded and I wanna move on to another the track. (Track 2) once I turn that dial track one moves. Now when I just run my triton and no sound modules it will work meaning when I go to track 2 3 and so forth its okay but soon as I have my modules hooked up it won't let me record more than one track at time per module... maybe you are doubling up on the midi numbers somewhere and don't realize it.

or

start with only one module hooked up, get it working correctly, then one by one add other modules and get them working perfectly instead of all together at once.

Son, I feel ya pain. I have the same issue with my Korg sound module. Once I go to the next track and change voices it changes the previous track. What I resorted to doing is sampling the sound off the module and sixteen leveling it to play my melody, riff, whatever. It kinda sucks because it defeats the purpose of the sound module. I could've just copped a sample CD and $h*t.

Man dont do that then your defeating the purpose like u said. Your module should have some sort of "Multi program" function. Read the manual that came with the module. Once u figure out where the multi mode is than each time u switch to a track on the mpc switch tracks on the module and your sounds will remain. Ive owned plenty of them and this technic works for all of the ones I owned. Dont forget to save in the module and in the mpc
