I bought a used 2000xl that has not been upgraded at all. still has the floppy(old school). was wondering if it came with the 8mb flash rom or if I had to pick this up, so I cansave updates. I would think it came with it, but ive seen them sold at on-line stores so I'm not sure. I searched but couldnt find anything. its an se by the way if that has anything to do with the time it was made if that matters. thanks

oh I hear you. No u dont need the compact flash for that. You can just download the newest OS onto your your data card and load it up into the mpc. Although I dont know where to download it. Somebody on here definately knows where to get it. Or if you have a floppy drive on your computer load the OS onto your computer than save it to a data card and load up

Jacpot, I thought you said it doesnt have rom inside the mpc, which means I couldnt save it to the internal memory, right?

No man. Im saying download the new OS off the computer...

Save it onto some sort of flash card or data stick.

Once you install the mcd card reader in the mpc install the new OS using the data stick that u saved it to...

GET IT?

You go on the akai site and download it, save it to a USB card reader, take that card and place it in your mpc and install. It's the EXACT same procedure for floppy. Flash ROM isn't needed for that.
