Has anyone orderd the Synchrotech
IDE to 6 in 1 Multi-Card Read-Writer 2 Slot InternalPCM-CR-ID2IMUL

I ordered this in early January. Called them and they said they are awaiting shippment from overseas. And i still dont have it yet. That seems like a long time. I wouldnt order from synchrotech.com if I were you. I should have gone elsewhere. ..

I'm sorry to hear that, I bought exactly the same one over a year ago from sycnhrotech and they shipped in less than a day. You could always try to cancel your order with synchrotech ut you might have the same delay if you order from another vendor of course .

Hmmm. I ordered the same unit from Synchrotech last week, and I haven't heard anything from them yet.

They had a statement on their site saying that they'd try to ship as soon as possible.

As soon as possible for them means several weeks... or even months?

I hope not. That's outrageous. I'm going to call them on Monday and check.

pt3r, aint this the same one in your thread a while back, the same one I bought? Works great. I actually bought mine brand new through a Repair Vendor I work with so I got it in like overnight. I didn't go through the actual website..

I thought it better that I go through an actual person that I already had a professional work relationship with. Glad i did.

As for anyone else wanting to get these things, I can introduce you to this same person, they always welcome the business and they ship stuff VERY fast. They only do industry standard computer parts, no mpc's (cause I KNOW people will ask) and no specific akai parts, INDUSTRY STANDARD I said...... SCSI drives, yes..

Thats the reason I went with this one... The reviews on it seemed good and the price was decent. I was considering to cancel and go elsewhere, but i keep thinking that it has to be coming any day now.

I've had NO problems with it, it worked for me on the first try. I'm a very happy camper, just be patient and wait for it. If you don't get it within a week call the place or email their customer service and ask what the deal is. But have some patience on it.

Okay, tell me again, with this reader will I have to go out and hunt down a specific power cable and data cable?

Not if you're swapping it for an internal zip drive, if you're replacing a floppy drive by a cf drive then yes, you'll need to do a powercable mod + get a data cable.

My synchrotech card reader finally came yesterday, March 27. I contacted Synchrotech early in March and they apologized, and explained that the shipment was en route from China. I said that they should have indicated that on their website. They agreed and said that it was a mistake.

The customer service person stayed in touch with me over the course of the month, and they even volunteered to ship it next day air, at no additional expense. Plus they waited to charge my card until the product was ready to ship. I told their guy David that he was making his company look good by hooking me up with the shipping upgrade, and I'm happy to share the news.

In the end I'm glad to have the reader, and I can't wait to get it installed. I wish I could have had it weeks ago. It's no big deal, and if the thing works, I won't ever remember the that it took almost a month for the part to come.

I'll try to remember to post an update here once I get the thing installed.

Yeah, I've installed the Synchrotech on numerous MPC's I've bought. They've all worked without a hitch. If you have an internal zip installed it's pretty much plug and play. If not, you can do the "ghetto rig" that's floating around these forums which I've done once with moderate results, or you can just buy the cables from VST for like 15 bucks. Ask them specifically for the IDE power connector cable, and if you don't have one, an IDE flat cable also. Don' get tempted by them trying to sell you the whole compact flash kit for like over a hundred.
