Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By JoeyBags Fri Mar 03, 2006 3:24 am
Mine just isn't reading my discs anymore. It will read them once in a blue moon. I think I just need a new one, cause the discs aren't spinning in there like it's reading. Anybody know of a site or something to get one?

Thanks!

Ive used toshiba cd-rom drives housed in external scsi cases and they work fine. The Apple cd-300's or cd-600's work fine too. I know NEC cd-roms arent compatible with Ensoniq gear, havent tried one with an MPC though. I'd probably try and stay away from them unless someone can confirm that they have one working.

But yeah, to answer your question eBay is the go. You don't need some overpriced drive. Just go for a cheap one that is compatible and you'll be fine.

if you already have an external drive. find a used computer store where they sell all kinds of parts and stuff. swap the drive like you would the cd rom in a tower. set the scsi id and youre set
