Help With Sampling

I have a record player hooked up to my mpc to sample vinyls ive NEVER sampled before ever and i was wondering exactly how do you go about sampling old songs off vinyls? I understand u need to cut it up but how do you lay drums when the old beats have drums under them ect? Any info would be appreciated

you could just turn quantize off and play drums over the original by ear or step edit
or chopp the drums out or chop the drum hits and play them
or just leave the drums untouched.

if you work with a sampled loop with drums, try to cut the drums out of the loop make them louder and make your own drum line over the loop (doesn't work everytime, because the drums might have other instruments in the background) - or take drums which sound similar to the drums of the loop..if you don't get the right groove of the sampled drums - train hard

a lot of times, the drums are pretty low. like on older records (at least on mine). and you can lay your own drums over them. either that or find a sample that dosnt have many or any drums in it.

oh yea, and you can chop the sample up and rearrange it to fit your drums

In my experienes, Ive found that LOW-END FREQUENCIES ARE YOUR ENEMY!!! Avoid them at all costs. I run my sample through a 4 band EQ and cut all frequencies beloow 100mhz.(Give or take) This allows room to add your own kick drum pattern and bass line.

yea true i just recently started doing that in my 5k. ill load up the sample in my mpc and run it thru the filter for my low end, then run the samples in the 5k thru a high pass and eliminate the low end. then, like you said, build your own drums on top...
