What are you using now? Or are you just starting out?

I started out Hardware, then ventured into software(Reason 2.5), now Im bangin Hardware again(MPC 2000xl SE) When I first began to come up, my mentor didnt believe in sampling, everything was MIDI, so thats all I new. I've come into my own since then(2003) and sampling is a major part in my workflow. The MPC compliments my workflow very well. Thats all it boils down to. Get the gear that best compliments your workflow. I can have all the hot ideas in the world flowing through my head, but if I cant lay them down in time, its a waste. It takes experimentation and alot of exchanges at Guitar Center. Them ninjas hate my guts!! LOL
