I've been using the XL since '98 or so, and never had any serious problems...until now it seems. Please bear with me...
I recently got the 8 outputs expansion. I installed it myself with no problem really. I run the 8 outs from the MPC, to a 12 channel Mackie mixer, then to a recorder of some kind. Was workin fine, mixed & recorded down some tracks, everything seemed to be going smooth.
Then last night, I turn on the MP's warm glow once again...load up a beat, and start to assign sounds to the 8 outs. But now it seems that only output 5 & 7 want to work. weird...but let's see whats wrong.
So, I pop open the back panel. check it out. Make sure all connections are nice and snug, nothing seems to be out of place.
Replace the panel, turn on and load up the beat again..but now when the sounds and samples are all loaded up, when i bang the pad, they playback in this strange distorted almost 'wah wah' effect type sound, and even plays numerous pads at once. WTF?!!?
So I turn the power off, wait an minute, then turn back on... maybe just needs a refresh...but now, buddy's gettin snagged on the "WAIT..." screen, or even gets to the "detecting memory" screen...but thats as far as it will go now. Sometimes it'll let me load a beat, but then the playback is funny...or it'll just get as far as the "detecting memory" screen and I'll have to kill the power?!!?
What do ya'll make of this? should i not have installed the 8 outs myself? are wires touching that shouldn't be? should I send to VST? blow my brains out? what?...any suggestions or tips would be VERY MUCH appreciated! anyone that helps, I'll send you a mixtape or some shit!!
