dude maybe YOU SHOULD PUT THAT YOU DONT HAVE MIDI ON YOUR PC BEFORE YOU ASK THE QUESTION. instead of just saying: "what cable do I need?"
that is like saying: I need to know what kind of gas to put in my car. then saying "but I dont have a gas tank". when someone tells you "unleaded." what you wanted to know was where to get a gas tank, not what kind of gas you need.

Buy a Midi interface, Midiman 2x2 will cost you 40 dollars. the drivers are rock solid. if you have a soundcard, you can also get a midi bracket that connects to the game port of the soundcard for 10 dollars if you want to use that.

it is not rocket science, if you dont have midi on your sondcard, you need "gasP!" a midi box.

dont post an ambiguous question and not expect a stupid answer, or: ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer.

hahah Mr. Foo-Fighter? dude cant you read? tis Dr. Foo. not Mr. Foo-Fighter.

If you're having trouble with the hook-ups mpc to pc what kinda programs do you think you'll be running. I'm not being a smart ass but I think you should learn you MPC and build your skills on beat-making before you rely soley on the pc for help. I'm saying that becasue alot of the programs you're going to probably use have a higher learning curve along with getting the mpc to work together. Now that you're going to use midi what kinda input are on your cpu..2in 2out, or is it the standard mini plug, becasue you're going to have to get the sound into the PC somehow...Just something to think about since you're stepping up to the technology plate....

and the computer isnt going to magically make midi work.
you should definitely learn about it.
there is ALOT more than just plugging the cables in and hitting record
once you get into it.
try www.tweakheadz.com read about midi.
and www.futureproducers.com
search for midi.
and you need to calm down.
i would be a little nicer to the people i was asking for help.\

p.s. take f*cking caps off.

hahahahaha,
this sh*t is funny man. sorry trakmaker, we got a bunch of sarcastic @ssholes on here an i am one of em. but you will get good questions answered with good reponses. you just showed your ignorance when asking what kind of midi cable you need. there is only one kind of midi cable, a midi cable. doesnt matter what brand, hell i've built them numerous times and they work fine. it is not like an audio cable where you are super concerned with fidelity. as long as messages are being consistently sent, your straight. dont worry, there is a lot to know about producing and engineering, so do yourself a favor and look around the forum a minute before asking vague questions. when youre ready to ask a question, be VERY specific and usually no one will be a smart ass( no offense foo, i felt where you were coming from, obviously).

but there are a lot of other cats that know there stuff on here too. mpc3000, for instance, knows his stuff back and forth.

word. squash all internet beef, I mean, how can you call yourself a man and be beefing on the internet?
