Spreading out your bass sample on da mpc

ok i have all this midi shit here proteus 2000 and roland xv-3080 but i just dont feel the way i put the basslines in i have plenty of bass sample discs aswell and want to just lay the bass str8 from da mpc i just need to know the best way of getting my bass on the 16 pads so i can play shit in tune i dont want to press the 16notes and have it tuned up n down i want that real feel so i can get some nice flavas

help me out.

If im understanding you correctyl u want lets say you have a phatty bass sound and instead of playin it on the keys you want to play it on the pads. Well you should be able to if you have everything midi'd up. But you may have to by hand set each sound to a certain pad on the mpc so its in order. Not 100 percent sure. But why not jus use a midi controller to play the bass sounds from your module?

The problem with the MPC is that for some ****** up reason they didn't layout the Pads chromatically. They are all over the place.
Create a blank program and go to the Program Edit screen.go through all the pads and change the Note numbers on the pads in a sequential way.
So Pad A01 is note 35, Pad A02 is note 36 etc. etc. all the way up to Pad 12.
Stop there and go to the next Pad bank and continue up to the twelfth note. Do this for all the pad banks
Now you have four different octaves on each Pad bank making it easier to play.
I always use this layout for everything because once it's setup I can load the samples as normal but if I want to change to Midi it's setup for that too.

but say i have a few bass sample like a c g and e and i want to tune them on the mpc so i have a full octave?

to missy i had a midi controller keyboard which messed up but i didnt like the feel i was getting when i was pressin keys i want my bass to be tight tight not showing no sign of weakness.

No problem.

You can use autochromatic in program mode get a sample spread across the all the pads. It's a bit limited but useful.

You can't do automatic keygroups like you can do on the other akai samplers. You can spread a few samples across the pads manually by tuning each pad individually but it's a pain in the *ss.

One thing which i is cool on the MPC is you can use it to beef up your MIDI bass sounds. Use a simple short wave like a sine wave, or a sawtooth wave. Go into sample edit and get the sample looping so it's just one constant droning note. Go into program and autochromatic the sample. Adjust the filter,attck,decay tuning etc. to your taste.

Record your Midi Bass to the proteus. Make a copy of that track and assign the copied track to your MPC bass program. so when you play the sample and the MIDI together you get some wicked bottom end from the MPC bass.

Your best way to go is to sample a note and assign it to autochrom. Not limited at all. Thats How I do all my bass. and I do have a midi keyboard I just prefer autochrom on bass.

Auto chrom is good for some things.... Bass is one of them

i tried out the thing you said about getting the octaves on seperate pads that works nice but i still dont like **** with the proteus maybe i dont know how to use this proper cos i dont really get it sounding how i want maybe its cos my room isnt sound proofed or what not. if someone can explain the pitching of the actual sound so i could try that to see which actually works bvetter i dont quite understand how to make it tune effectively. thansk for the tips my friends.
