Transfer from a 2000 classic to a 1000??????

I have looked and looked and looked and have got some tips but no straight answer. if I am double or triple posting i apologize but its driving me crazy and i need to know.

Can i or Can i not transfer my sound and sequence files from my 2000 classic to my 1000? If so how? what program, computer, drive, etc? i am desperate at this point. I have both PC and Mac, a MPC2000 with a scsi zip 100 drive. I already have MPC pad for my 1000 (by the way, i think i read the creator of MPC pad is on this forum so if you read this thanks a lot, i haven't had the chance to use it but just knowing i have it is a blessing).

So here is what i know (or think i know) so far:
* PC's cant read an MPC zip unless its formatted on some sort of special program first ( dont know the name or link of the program)
* chicken systems makes translator but 2000 Classic is not supported
* MPC 2000 and 1000 have a different kind of sound file (i know the 1000 is .wav)
* Theres no scsi to USb connection supported on the 2000

If i can just get my sounds and sequence files to the 1000 i will re-do the programs manually.

why would u want to down grade?
i aint got a answer for u, but i would stick to the 2000 anyday over a 1000

os 1.70 and up on 2k classic allows the 2k to save wav files.

save your .seq as .mid, load that midi sequence into the 1k.
do this for each seq.

programs, I don't know if the 1k can read 2k programs or not, if you ahve both, why haven't you tried it, or maybe you have and just didn't say so.

Illmik, I'm Not Downgrading im Upgrading, I started on the SP1200, then the S950. I bought the 2000 in 97, the year it came out. now i got a 1000 and i have some stuff i wanna get off of it. When you go from 10 seconds of sampling time to 128 megs its far from a downgrade. I'm not selling my 2000 though, its my baby. its just taking up room so i wanna put it away with all my other vintage samplers.


Lampdog, i have tried nothing. im still stuck on how to get from the 2000 to my computer to my 1000. i prefer using my Mac because its home but i have a PC at work if i must. im on os v1.72 i believe. if i buy a usb zip for my computer and put my MP disk in it, will the files show on my desktop? or will i need a third party program? I heard somewhere that if you dont have a third party software and you put an MPC disk in a computers drive it will erase and re-format the disk automatically. Before i do any experimenting im just trying to find out what to do and what not to do to get as much transfered.

format the zip on pc using fat/fat16. keep your filenames under 8 characters. If you DO NOT follow this instruction you will run tino headaches. If you've already used long filenames (over 8 characters) in your song/samples/sequences you'll have to rename/resave them if you plan on transferring through zip to computer.

That's still a big part of experimentation, make an experiment beat and use that to transfer and muck up stuff so that you find out what you can and can't do. You'll most likely not something like this right the first time around. Trial and error. Just don't use a REAL song for it, use a simple beat you made for experimentation.

Yo Lampdog, thanks a million homie the transfer works good. i've been doing it all week. and i've been able to do it on my Mac as long as it was formatted on my pc. only problem i've been havin is track 1 gets erased from all my sequences when i save as .mid. i've just been copying track 1 to an empty track before i save. I save the sounds as. wav files and re-create the program in pad 187. this is a life saver for me cus i thought i would never be able to put my 2000 away cus i got soooo much material on it. carrying it back and forth to the studio, that joint is heavy.
