MPC2K Floppy Drive Does Not Turn On

I have a mpc 2k classic here and the floppy drive isnt turning on. I already tried switching the floppy drive with another one from a pc that was working and the floppy drive does not turn on. I already searched and read a couple threads and couldnt find a solution. Would I have to buy a new board? When I turn the MPC on, the white light just flashes on the screen and all the other leds just flash. I have the 1.72 os on disk too. Just cant load the OS up because the floppy drive doenst turn on. Any help would be appreaciated.

do you have ANY light on the floppy lit up at all?

How can he change the cable? I didnt know that was possible. By the way whats the term for the floppy drive connection on the back. Like is that IDE or what? Preciate it.

Both the classic and XL floppy drives use IDE/ATAPI connections.
The classic uses a 34 pin connection.
The XL uses a 40 pin.
The XL also has a SCSI drive connection on the board where the floppy connects.
This means you can install internal drives such as zip in the XL but not the classic.

Thank u so much. i was told in another thread that the 2k didnt have IDE but it does. I knew it was 34pin but jus wanted to make sure i was correct in sayin it was IDE.

Just go to the computer store and get another floppy drive cable.
Pull out the old one in the 2k and swap with the new one in it's place.

So u sayin da cable attached to da motherboard can be removed?

word, I was about to detach the mobo cable and it didnt seem so "detachable"

If anyone has a solution to this, it would be greatly appreaciated. Please let me know.

no light. on either floppy drive I've tried.

you cant pull the cable out. You need to solder the piece out.

If you have to desolder it then do that.

If you have no lights on the floppy drive maybe it's dead
or it could actually be the cable.

That is if you know how to solder/desolder, if you've never done this b4 call in the help of a pro b4 you **** up your mpc.

Oh yeah of course.

I have no problem with soldering, hell, if I were in Jimbo's area
I'd make a house call. I've done that before.

I'm familiar with soldering and already put the piece back. I have a soldering kit.

Its aight though, I was told that the power supply was bad and has to be replaced. thanks for the input guys
