MPC2000/Motif ES/PC HELLLLP!!!

My setup is pretty basic but very effective for my work. I have a MPC2000, Motif ES Keyboard, and PC with Sonar 4.0. To make my beats, I initially just use the MPC & Motif....sequencing on the MPC and using the Motif as a sound module as well as used for playing chords. Midi In A/Midi Out A is going to/from the Motif. Now after I have completed the beat, I save it in the MPC as a midi type 1 file. Then, I load the midi sequence up in Sonar 4.0 and it lays out the midi tracks.

Here's where the problem begins. I have Midi In B/Midi Out B connected to/from the PC via my Lynx One card. I would like to be able to play the midi file in Sonar and use my existing setup to trigger the sounds in the Motif. When I try and press play in Sonar, I can only trigger one sound at a time even after I input the correct midi channel per midi track in Sonar which corresponds to the midi channel settings in the MPC. If I switch from track 1 to 2 to 3 and so on, I only hear the assigned track in the MPC which is in addition triggering the Motif sounds.

Is the MPC2000 capable of transmitting the midi signal from the PC (MPC Midi In A) to the Motif (MPC Midi Out B)? I would guess that if I have the MPC "midi thru" selected then it would transfer the signal to both MPC Midi Out A & B. If this is not the case or it can't be done, then I probably will have to switch around my midi cables so the computer triggers the Motif directly after the midi file is loaded and leave out the MPC at this point.
I may be able to use the Motif USB connection to computer and still be able to keep my original Midi setup but I have to do a little reading on this.

With your particular setup, you will be better served by connecting a USB cable from the Motif to your computer just as you have mentioned. The only adjustment from there would probably be switching the Motif's midi receive mode back and forth between "midi" and "usb" as is the case with the Motif Rack. This way you never have to unhook any midi cables. Be sure to go to "options>midi devices in SONAR and turn on your usb midi drivers for the Motif and re-assign your midi outputs in Sonar as required to send the midi data to the Motif. HTH!!!
