Linking the ASR and the MPC

Got the MPC a month ago but been on the ASR the last 11 years and I haven't even touched the ASR since I got the MPC. I eventually want to link the 2 together but neither one has the 8 output expander. Eventually I will both get them the exander but in the mean time can I link the 2 together and what would be needed? I'm assuming I'll have to get a mackie board and in the meantime before the expanders come, the MPC would be on track 1 of the mackie and the ASR on track 2 right? And once I get the expanders then the 8 outs would go to their 8 individual sliders correct?

Then I would just midi them together and decide which one would control the other correct? And the third question is how woud I link the 2 if the beat on the MPC is 103.5 but the ASR doesn't do . tempos, the ASR would be @ 103 or the only time the two would link is when the MPC is @ a tempo that mtches the ASR's? And the last question is for the cat Lampdog (if he's reading) you said something to the extent the the MPC isn't a full sampler like the ASR, school me on what's behind that. As always good looking in advance for the help.

does the asr 10 rack have all the same features and capabilities as he keyboard???

Good looking for the links ma, but I was more so asking do I need to get a mackie board to midi the 2 up and the difference with the tempo....maybe I didn't ask the question the right way...my bad but thanks again...

Without the 8outs for both machines is not a problem.
1. You can do mpc mainout to asr10 linein. That will give your MPC a slight ASR10 warmth, the MPC audio will go out mixed with the ASR10's main output. You already know how to hook that up since it's been 11 years so I won't go into detail but you get the point.

2. You can get a mixer/audio interface and put ASR10 main outs and MPC main outs just the way you described it with the mackie or any mixer.

Yes. I'd make MPC the master cause it's easier to control and sequence

Midi the 2 machines together. Set ASR10 to External Sync (ASR10 will be slaved to MPC timing and will match whatever tempo is set ON the MPC, no need to change the tempo ON the ASR10)

The 4000 is the only one that is a FULL Fledged sampler in my opinion. It does stuff that can keep and surpass the asr10 in everyway possible. The only thing is that it doesn't have keys but that's not a big drawback if you take time to program it to SOUND like you have keys. I have a 2kxl and it can never compare to a full fledged sampler plethora of full filters, 2 pole 4 pole. The effects are cool and you can get creative with the eb16 but it's NOT one of the big boy effects toys in my opinion. You've been on the ASR10 that long, if you move to any MPC other than the 4k you'll see what I mean when you start comparing features wise. ASR10 example:
bowtie crossfade loops, bidirectional looping, envelopes that have multiple points to manipulate, macro's. 2kxl and no mpc below it I believe, has none of that either. If you have both, midi them together and you have a powerhouse combo. trust. You'll be on that combo for another 11 years.

I knew what u were asking but i wanted to post those links for your sake and others who may have the same question. Help keep the forums from cluttering up with bs.
