speed of scsi

Hey guys maybe a lame question. But i'm thinking of coppin a hd for my mpc.
Now i've heard that it can be really slow.... how slow? Do i have to wait like 10 min for my beats/ samples to load?

And question number two. I have an iomega zip 250... But the cable doesn't fit the mpc.... anyone know what i should get? a new cable or a entirely new zip / mpc (jus kiddin)????

10 minutes, no.

For me, scsi cdrom, scsi hd, both plextor, I think maybe
inside of 1 minute to load a whole project (aps, all and samples).

That would be a one song example.
