I'm new to this forum, so
Hello everybody!

I installed the card reader successfully which i received last week from the vw-shop in germany (link allready posted several times)!

The only problem I have, is that after formating my SD card in the MPC, my PC cannot recognize the Card any more! I am running OS 1.14, so maybee I must update to OS 1.20??? Is this the problem??
Or must I use CF Cards if I wan't to swap samples between PC and MPC

Could somebody please help me?

You need to format all disks on your PC to a FAT format for them to be readable by both machines.

Thanx

I already solved the problem. I could not format the SD CARD with my PC because the PC didn't recognize it. If you have the same problem here is the solution:

Pump the SD CARD in your Digital Camera and fromat it there. Then do the SD CARD in your PC and format the card with FAT 16!

So don't format SD CARDS with your mpc, because some pc's don't recognize them

Good bye

Not sure what you're on about... Maybe I'm missing something.

The PC wouldn't have read the SD card 'as it was MPC format, but it should still have recognised it and allowed you to re-format it. Weird.

Just to be clear and save you any problems in the future, understand that ANY MPC-formatted card/disk (meaning SD, CF, Zip, Memory Stick, Floppy, whateveer) will not be recognised by your PC.

If you plan on loading your storage media into a PC for file transfer, be sure to format that media on your computer as FAT 16.

Don't format in the Akai.

dam so if i upgrade my os, i can utilize that other cf card to its fullest potential?

im gonna try it a lil later today and i will report back with my results

thanx pt3r

Very Happy well upgrading my os to 1.2 allowed win xp to see the cf card when it was formatted in the mpc2kxl. that was easy and it saved me half of a gig of memory.

Floppies can be recognized, at least the files on it.

Really? Do you know why?

I guess that the MPC formats floppies in FAT32 format.
Otherwise tell me, please.
