Anyone Else Have This Screen Problem?

I've got the XL. Recently when I power on my MP the screen is full of vertical lines. After about twenty minutes the lines go away. Sometimes the screen will start out fine and as I start moving through menus lines will appear. And sometimes the screen will be fine for a whole session. Could I have a loose connection that I can simply tighten or is this the begining of the end for my screen?

Sounds like your screen maybe goin out soon. How long do you keep your mpc on?

You can try installing a new Foil instead of actually replacing the whole screen.

To me it sounds like the screen itself has a contact problem.

If you dare to open the screen, you will probably see that
the rubber bars that are holding the actual screen don´t get in touch with the contacts of the platine anymore in some areas.

It may also be caused by a loss of contact between the rubber bars and the screen.

You can try that out if you open the screen, (get sure that no cables are touching each other), switch the MPC on and push GENTLY onto the upper and lower edges of the glass screen.

You will probably notice that the lines disappear and come back depending on your pushing.

If that is the problem, you ought to reset the contact between the rubber bars and the platine and between the rubber bars and the screen.
The best method to do this is to pull the screen off the platine and to remove the rubber bars from the downside of the screen and then glueing all together at exactly the same position where it has been before.

It´s quite easy, but you should be sure what you are doing.
You should use only few amounts of glue (not instant-glue, better the liquid one to be used with paper)
so that you can retry to glue the parts together once you fail.
When it comes to this, you are also able to remove all the glue from the parts again if you are using the liquid paper-glue.

Don´t put glue onto the contacts on the platine, the rubber bars and the downside of the screen.

I think that all is what a technician mainly does when he repairs screens whith lines on them.
Maybe he uses different types of glue, but this method worked well on the screens of my S 950 and MPC 60.
