how to play sounds from Roland Xp-60 into the mpc ?

i just got this roland Xp-60 from a friend and i never used a keyboard with an mpc. i got the midi out of the roland connected to the midi in of the mp and the midi out the roland connected to the midi in of the mpc. my rca jacks are connected from my mp's stereo outputs to the surround sound system. i have the mid track highlighted in the mpc and i've checked the monitor window to make sure the mpc is receving and sending midi messages. i don't hear any sounds coming from the roland. now if i connect the rca jacks from out of the mpc to the outputs of the roland i hear sound when i press a key. when i press the pads on the mp and i hear JUST the roland's sound and not any sounds of the mpc previously loaded and assigned. when i try to record in loop mode in the mp i play just some notes and the mpc plays just the roland sounds back,but none of the previous sounds in the mpc.

HOW DO I GET THE ORIGINAL SONG TO STILL PLAY IN THE MP WHILE ADDING SOUNDS ON TOP FROM THE ROLAND AND HEARING BOTH THOUGH MY SPEAKERS TOGETHER?

do have to do something in the midi menu in the roland or the mpc?

is my rca jacks configured right?

This has been discussed more than the times 50 cent got shot. I wrote out something for people who ask this question. Read it, apply it, and Come back after it fails.

Also before you even ask. I dont know where nothing is on that keyboard so if you havent even read the manual i suggest you download it if you dont have it and get to reading so you can know the basics of the keyboard and what you are doing. No hand holding thats for fagots though i am a girl so u might do wanna hold my hand.

Dont get mad either Im bein funny but u do need to Read and get busy.

Connecting a Keyboard to the MPC:

Keyboard Settings:
MIDI OUT to MPC MIDI IN
Local Control OFF
Make sure its in Multi-Mode
Route Audio Outs(headphone out if stereo out isnt available) to your Mixer

MPC Settings:
MIDI OUT to Keyboard MIDI IN
Turn DRUM to MIDI 1A or 1B(most likely 1A)
Route Audio OUTS(stereo outs or headphone out) to your mixer

Cables Required:MIDI(2) and Audio Cables(depends on how many outs the gear has)

Example:
Say you have a bass on the keyboard and it is on Channel 2(track 2 for some keyboards with onboard sequencers)

Then the MPC should be set to MIDI:2A

So basically whatever the sound in the keyboard is the number should be the same on the MPC.

Channel 1 or Track 1=MIDI 1A
Channel 2 or Track 2=MIDI 2A

ect....

Real simple and easy.

i don't have a mixer so how can you do it without one?

You need to get a mixer or a sound card that has enough inputs.
