I have a problem when making beats

Whenever i try to chop samples i can never get the sample to fit the sepuence. I can always hear where i made my chops at. I can't get my chop's to loop smoothly any help

Practice your chopping that's all I can say.

in trim mode and select the number behind the 'ST:' point and press 'open window'. Thats the way to chop more accurate.

You can also set your attack to 5 or 10

Sounds like your new at this....so my advice to you is...not every sample is a good sample. I've noticed with me that if i hear a sample that i like & chop it up, sometimes it just doesn't sound good because its just not a good sample to chop or to even use...ya feels?
Sometimes samples are difficult to use within a song. So if you find it difficult to chop, move on & use another 1. When u get better at sampling... go back to that sample & see what u can do with it then.

Recycle can make any sample chop work. It's also much faster than using the MPC. Instantly accurate.

One thing I can suggest is when you zone out your sample, listen to it and listen closely. Make sure your chops are exactly where you want them to be and when you the edit button, the end margain is default set at 30. Turn it to 0 or 5 and try that. I don't know if that will help you anymore than practice itself but expierement with your machine and learn it.

just listen closely to each chopp. listen for a quieter instrument in the backround of the sample, cuz u should consider that. if the chopps are off, you can mess with the attack, decay, trim a piece off the chopp, or experment with step edit and make sure you timing is correct, or time stretch one chopp so it blends nice with the next. Just some ideas.

uhh im away at college right now so i forget the actually button to press. the menu where you can set the attack and decay of each sample, make sure attack and decay are set to zero.
if theyre not, it creates a silence between slices.

picking samples is half the battle. You gotta get good at pickin ones that will work good.......or at least know if you have work ahead of you. Plus its gotta be a sample you are feelin so atleast its worth the work. If i find something that inspires me, ill do a better job. Dont be lazy either!

just tweak ya start points till your happy or better yet velo 2 start point to get some random ness,, recycle's settings wont always give the most desirable settings, without some drastic manual changes, this can be done later in the mpc anyway. ' chopsuey,,, use your ears as well as them eyes,

Been using Recycle since version 1.7 from back in 96. Super good program for chopping phrases and making single hits from anything. Sample yourself falling down the stairs and you'll get some great rhythm sounds and after chopping you can quantize that shit....my shoe!

Sound Forge w/tweaked Auto Region settings is Lampdog's secret chopping weapon. Tell everybody. lol.
