internal zip drive

hi ... ive heard about people swapping out the floppy drive in MPC200xl an fitting an internal zip drive in it's place ... can this be done? an if soo .. what type of internal zip do you need to use ??

Yes, IOMEGA SCSI or IDE , 100, 250 or 750 MB.

My advice forget about internal zipdrives, go for the internal card reader, no moving parts more storage capacity.

If I were u i'd get a multicard reader. Zips get unreadable at times to like a floppy drive. Go for the card reader if u can.

And yes you can have an internal card reader.

And my MPC came with the card reader already installed
I actually was thinking about copping an external ZIP drive
But I made a U-Turn on that idea and decided to keep the internal card reader after reading all of these posts complimenting it

yeh ... i see where your coming from ... but i think zip is better fa me ... i dont use cd librarys an ish ... im straight samples from records... my beats dont use alot of memory ....all my other equip is zip...

Still, you'll kick yourself the day the click of death destroys one of your beats. I was very happy with my internal zip 'til theday it died on me, luckily I had all my stuff backed up on my external harddisk. Also a zip can only contain 250 mb whereas a single cf card can give one massive 2gb in storage, and are more reliable than zip disks.

Internal card reader, no moving parts to eventually go bad.
can withstand a bit more heat thatn zip disks (I have mine sitting here on my workbench sometimes and it get heated in here)..

I accidentally left a compact flash in my pocket one day while doing the laundry, waited another day for it to completely dry out, no problems.

^^^ We had this computer magazine around here that did exactly the same as Lamp describes and worse, they put the cf cards in microwave ovens, dishwashers, drove over the shit with a minivan and the damn things didn't lose one byte, even repeated read write actions on the same memory address of the card went flawless, they gave up after 3000000 read/write instructions because they couldn't detect any failure. They used quality flash cards though. I wouldn't try to do half of these tests on a zip disks.

Edit: I'm in no way related to any cf card manufacturer nor do I sell the shit or anything I just tell it the way I experience it, I couldn't care less what you want to use as storage medium for your beats.
