Trimming issue

I searched around for a bit but didn't find exactly what I was looking for. I've got a small issue...

When I record my sample and go to the trim window. I can't see the WAV. I mean I can hear it and I can even trim it how I want, but I can't see it. When you bring up the WAV it's all black. Kind of hard to explain. I'm not at home so I can't take a picture of what i'm talking about. Maybe somebody will know what i'm talking about. If not i'll post pics of what i'm talking about later today.

the contrast is fine

if I cut a sample on my computer and load it into the MPC then I can see the WAV fine, but if it comes from my Turntable, then I can't see it. Where you would be able to see the WAV layed out is just all black..

It could be that the volume from the table is too high.If you can edit the sound,it's recording so you may wanna come down on the volume a bit.

you might have just answered my question. I'm betting it's too low. I just got my MP last Saturday and I don't have a mixer yet, but that don't mean I can't play with it and figure it out though, so that's all i've been doing really.

I think it's too HIGH.If the screen is all black and the contrast is right and it's recording the wav./sound is covering the screen from top to bottom.Turn the table down some and adjust the gain on the mpc.That should work.

When you're sampling, don't let the meter fly too far off the right, You want it so it's slightly before. Otherwise it'll clip and you'll have that problem. I'm betting your samples sounded distorted too right?

You wanna record as loud as possible without clipping (most of the time). Cos you can always lower the volume of the samples. It's harder to raise the volume down the line as you're gonna get unwanted noise.

yeah i'm new to the MPC world. I'm learning quick but I hadn't played with the GAIN yet. Since this post i've played with the gain and the volume and i''ve got it how I want it now. Things are str8. I appreciate all the comments though.
