novice question

im new to music creating so please have patience with my uneducated self. i have a motif 6 and a mpc2kxl. what is this best way to sample drum sounds from the motif 6, through the RECORD IN input jacks or the MIDI IN 1 input? i really don't even know exactly what MIDI is.. is that a signal that carries sound information from one place to another? like what RCA cables do? any sort of help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

First off welcome.

Midi is control data only. No audio travels through your MIDI.
RCA carries audio signals.

Yeah, use the RCA's for audio in.
Digital in/out (if u got it)

In my opinion probably the easiest route for would be the RCA jacks..

You said you are new but you got 2 good peices right there.

as far away as your imagination and skill..

thanks for the quick response, i really appreciate it. yah before starting, i really researched the best equipment before purchasing them.. now its just a matter of learning it... another question... since im a beginner, is this a good way to approach formulating a beat.. listen 2 various drum sounds on the motif, find the ones i like, sample them on the mpc, save them to a zip, and then from there i gather all the sounds i want on to zips, and use the sampled sounds to form a program that i will use to create a beat?
