Even though this machine is a Midi Production Center, can it be used as a Midi Controller ie: triggering sounds from sampltank? or any other VST? if so how is this done?

that's some basic $hit homie. i got two answers for you.
1. Use your MPC as a sampler. Problem solved.
2. MPC MIDI OUT ---> COMPUTER MIDI IN. assign whatever notes your pads are to whatever notes your samples are on in your program. done.

sampling is all i used the mpc for previously, i beleive my hand is well in the "well" of the gold mine in which the mpc offers in that aspect. I've never messed with midi except for its capabilites to sync hardware with software. Assigning notes and what not I have no clue where to start. Searching yes, I know I would get a few remarks of RTFM as well as a few good leads, so I will kill two birds with one stone 1. Post here 2. Search (via google, mpc-forums. etc). Thanks
furthermore does the MPC2000XL have the capabilites of adjusting parameters within a plug-in? ie using the note variation slider to adjust frequency settings? or possibly the 16pad function can manipulate the software?

I couldn't find a diagram with note #'s but this shows the basic GM drum layout on MPC pads. You wouldn't really need to know what the GM note #'s are would you? Your actual notes won't change from program to program, just devices and patches.

When you hit a pad on an MPC and a sample plays, all the MPC is doing is sending a NoteOn command (ie, a piano key being played). The MPC simply plays whichever sample is set to that note (or pad, in this case). This is essentially what you are doing when you would use the MPC pad to trigger a sample on your computer, simply telling your computer which note to play. On your software, you will have to figure out which notes your samples are set on. I've never used sampltank or whatever so I can't tell you exactly what to do, but I promise looking somewhere involving your software will yield more results than here cuz it's the software your gonna have to figure out, not the MPC.

barnyard, thanks for breaking down the logic, I highly appreciate that, I had a slight hint that was how the MPC would manipulate software but was not too sure.
