I opened up my mpc to see if I could fix my down arrow key that's been acting up for about 3 days now, it doesn't work with a light press, I have to add a lot of pressure to make the down key work but I didn't see anything wrong, it's probrably just a fu#)(ng faulty switch which is kinda' wack since I really take care of it and I barely got my mpc brand new in April. Anyway I snapped some pics with the top cover off if anyone wants to see what the guts look like, I've only seen pics on the net with the bottom taken' off but not the top...

Thank you for those wonderful photos! I have often wanted to remove the top from one of my XL's and find out what is underneath. I have never done it because I have not had any problems. It's fascinating to see how the switches are constructed and how the ribbon cable is connected to the pad area. I guess there is a contact on the underside of the pads that touches the circuit board when the pad is hit. Viewing this sort of makes me want to open up one of my 4000's and see if I might gain any insight into the double triggering problem.
