New User Ques. Sound Loading Problem

I was loading a sound that is 16 bit wav and was less than 1 mb in size. the sample was about 4-6 seconds in length.
when i load it, the MPC automatically speeds up the sample wihtout any way for me to restore the orig. tempo.

could this be because i dont have enough memory?
how much can the mpc take anyway?

I've never had that happen. Maybe the pad was set to play a higher tune from a previous sound and now that you loaded a different sample it still plays at the old tune settings.
