Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

hey mpc-forums.com.

Ive got an MPC 2000 (not the XL) and ive connected up a keyboard.

First Problem: Can't control a midi, example: ive got a sound i cut from vinyl and is on the MPC... i want to use the keyboard to make a melody with the sound, but it won't let me, i can't get the keyboard to play that sound, (if you understand that.)

second problem: I can't get everything to play together, example: i load some kicks and snares to the MPC, i create a basic beat (and this is coming through the MPC) so then i want to add alittle melody with the keyboard, so i record the melody, and the melody just plays through the keyboard, while drums comes through the MPC...

third problem: With the two above problems, i just used the drumkits on the keyboard and just used the sounds from the keyboard to make a beat, (which is very poor sounding beat because i can't do any of the above problems) and everything is the same volume, and i want to like turn down certain sounds like maybe i want to turn down the drums alittle, or the snare up abit, or the piano up and the bass down, but it wont let me.

hope i stated everything you needed to hear to help me.

thanks.

each sound gets a different track.

midi type track for keyboard.

midi in/out of mpc to keyboard midi in/out.

keyboard to external sync (what type of keyboard is it?)

did you download a mpc manual? please do and go through it, basic midi setup is in there.

if u still have problems AFTER going through the manual for the basic midi settings AND trying them out, come on back and we can figure something else out.
