Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By shrednar Thu Jun 29, 2006 6:03 am
Maybe its just me but I am on my second MPC2000XL due to warranty issues. First, I had two bad memory ports. Now, my pads are dead! I was making beats no prob the other day and today I turn on my MPC and or course, dead pads! Has anyone else had this problem? Sorry, just had to vent. Well, tomorrow I'm getting a 2500.

that sucks, sorry to hear that man. how long have you had your 2kxl and what sort of timeline have these problems occured?

I got the 2000xl in March. As far as I know, the XL had bad memory ports when I bought it because about 25-30 days after I bought it, I bought memory and discovered the problem. I sent it back and had the "new" one for a month and half and now this. Akai sent me what I'm sure had to be a re-furbished 2000XL. The screen didn't have the plastic film, and their was a few fingerprints and stuff in the body. This is crazy man. I love the XL but these problems are stupid! All in less than 6 months!!!!!!

I think you just had some bad luck, I've never had problems with mine and it's been owned by several before me.
It's probably better built than the 2500 since it's been out so long, and the OS is definatley waaay more stable!

But I think the 2500 is a better buy when the os gets more stable.

Just went and got the 2500! I bought it Planet DJ and they are aware of the problems that I've been having so they gave me a new 2500! Akai is replacing the XL and they just did an even trade!

i was mad enthousiast for the 2500 until i got it in my hands,...2000xl is way more nice to work with, except the live recording on the 2500 that is mad nice.
2500 look's and feel like a toy, the wheel suck, way to many options, to fancy for me.
I'll stick to the 2kxl,.....if i had money to buy a new one , i'll cop a 3000 instead of a 2500.

althought i haven't messed with a 2500. i am feeling the same way after doing much reading and watching some videos. the 2kxl seems like the like the one for me.

if i had the money, i'd def get a 3k too over a 2500.

The 2500 is dope! I've been messing with it since I got it and I must say it's nice. I used to be able to navigate my XL blind but the 2500 will definetly take a minute to get down. The whole "Mode" thing will take some getting used to. Overall I think the machine is built well, the layout is nice and clean and the new functions are great. Like any new piece of hardware, I'm gonna have to sit and play with it until I get comfortable. Thats how I was with the XL at first too. I've got memory and the CD-Rom drive on the way. Now I just need to sell my upgrades from my XL and I will be 100% converted to a 2500.

Good move! Seems like you're prepared to stick with it until we get a stable OS too!

I'm all about it! I could tell right out of the box that the 2500 was a better machine for me.[/quote]
