Damn, I Hate When The Power Goes Out! NEED HELP!

Alright here is my problem. Living in Florida, especially during the summertime now, the power could just go out for a brief second and flicker back on and BOOM... I lose everything on the MPC. So, what I need is a cable that would enable me to have both the scsi Zip Drive & scsi CD Rom drive hooked up at the same time. Because basically what I've been doing is leaving the MPC on until I record the track to my pc.. because I load the sounds from the cdrom drive and I can't plug in the zip drive and have the MPC recognize it unless I reboot it.

Someone please help me, because I just lost an important track I was working on for Nature.

get a power strip so you can have it all plugged in at once.


better yet, get one of those power strips with the battery so if the power goes out, your gear stays on

Get a flash rom so when tha power goes out or you turn your MPC off you work will still be there.

What D was talking about it a UPS. Its a good idea that I've contemplated myself. They aren't cheap though. They're often used for computer servers.

Thanks for that link, I'll look into the Flash Rom. Are they usually around $200.00?? Is it something I install or plug in? Didn't really give me much info about the item though.

i'd get a small ups before i drop loot on the internal flash. the ones with the 15 minute battery arent that bad pricewise.

& am i reading this wrong or do you not have your zip & cd rom chained together? you just need another scsi cable to hook them together.

Yeah I don't have them chained together, I have to find the cable to do that. The flash rom sounds great, but to dish out all that money when I could just save it to a zip disk and be able to turn it off and load it back up another time is cheaper. But, I'm considering purchasing that along the way though, it would be more reliable and beneficial.

Yeah you install it like RAM. You should DEFINATELY look into it.
